Research Topics |
- Cloud Architecture Based on Smart Home
Cloud computing has attracted more and more attentions due to its ability to deliver computing utilities as Internet service. Many industrial companies have successfully applied their Clouds with different technologies and architectures. But the existing Clouds are all computer-based and designed for Web browser. We propose a Cloud architecture which is based on digital appliances in smart homes to provide IT Services that can be accessed and used by appliance users. The implementation of this Cloud architecture will extend Cloud computing applications to the domain of smart home so that more users can benefit from Cloud and the Cloud provider can have more potential users.
- Parallel and Distributed System and Datacenter Research
Cloud computing is based on datacenters with parallel and distributed systems which are fundamental architectures for cloud providing services stably and efficiently.
Visual machine technology like XEN is necessary for managing and provisioning large amounts of computer resource. The core functionality of a cloud is its ability to automatically provision servers for users to use that function with interface.
I studied parallel and distributed systems like Google file system and implemented a small-scale distributed file system in my lab with load-balance and file store algorithms. The file system that I built has not been completed yet and needs more work to improve it.
- A MVC Framework for Web Applications Based on Java
MVC(Model-View-Controller) is considered to be the best architectural pattern for web applications because it can isolate business logic from input and presentation. There are a vast number of MVC frameworks like Struts available on the market now. These frameworks are sophisticated but always complicated and difficult to be understood. I wrote a simple MVC framework called Yangs Framework with the help of my teammates to improve the web application implementation in my lab. The Yangs Framework is based on Java which involves the main technologies and standards of Java web applications, such as Servlet, Javabean, custom taglib and database connection.This framework is being improved and maintained by my teammates now, and I am writing its specification which will be available soon.
